Hong Kong's benchmark stock index opened lower on Tuesday morning, tracking a weak finish overnight on Wall Street on the back of rate-hike fears, as investors looked toward U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's speech at the Jackson Hole Summit later this week.
JD.com (NASDAQ:JD) is set to give its latest quarterly earnings report on Tuesday, 2022-08-23. Here's what investors need to know before the announcement.
Analysts estimate that JD.com will report an earnings per share (EPS) of $0.40.
The second-quarter reporting season is winding down at the end of this week. Earnings growth of S&P 500 companies slowed to a mid-single-digit range, but this shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the multiple headwinds companies faced during the quarter.
Hong Kong shares opened lower on Monday, in tune with other Asian markets, as fears of a rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve gathered momentum ahead of the Jackson Hole summit later this week. The Hang Seng index lost 0.8% in opening trade even as China slashed its benchmark lending rates to boost a sluggish economy.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index opened in the green on Friday, gaining 0.12% in opening trade, following a muted session on Wall Street. Investors also digested macro news from Japan where the headline inflation rose to 2.6% in July as compared to 2.4% in June.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index opened in the red on Thursday, losing 0.39% in morning trade, following a sluggish session on Wall Street on Wednesday. The U.S. Federal Reserve has indicated more rate hikes according to the minutes of its policy meeting. However, it did indicate the pace of the hikes could slow.
