Amazon Halts Live Tests Of ‘Scout’ Delivery Bot On Unsatisfactory Performance

Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has halted the live testing of its automated delivery robot “Amazon Scout.”
The e-commerce giant found the program failed to meet customer needs, the company told Benzinga in a statement.
“During our limited field test for Scout, we worked to create a unique delivery experience, but learned through feedback that there were aspects of the program that weren’t meeting customers’ needs,” Amazon spokesperson Alisa Carroll told Benzinga. “As a result, we’re ending our field tests and reorienting the program. We are working with employees during this transition, matching them to open roles that best fit their experience and skills.”

Amazon launched the Scout robot in 2019 and it operated at select locations including Irvine in California and Snohomish County in Washington. It later expanded the six-wheeled box-like device to serve in Atlanta in Georgia and Franklin in Tennessee.
