- The products included in the recall were manufactured at the Columbus, Ohio, manufacturing facility.
- The recalled lots have bottle caps that may not have been sealed completely, resulting in spoilage.
- If a spoiled product is consumed, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting may occur.
- In February, Abbott recalled dozens of Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare formulas, creating one of the most urgent food shortages in recent history for U.S. families.
- This recall does not include other liquid or powder formula brands or nutrition products produced in the Columbus facility or elsewhere within our global nutrition manufacturing.
- The recall, which equates to less than one day’s worth of infant formula used in the United States, is not expected to impact the overall formula supply, Abbott said in a statement.
- Abbott is continuing production of Similac Ready-to-Feed liquid formula products for hospitals and healthcare providers’ offices on a different production line.
- Last week, an FDA review concluded that numerous shortcomings hampered the agency’s response to the U.S. infant formula supply problems this year.
